While imagining behind the scenes for a film, what else comes to
the mind except for the words lights, camera, and action? Making a film has the
efforts of a team of actors, directors, writers, and most importantly the
producer. No film can be presented without being backed by them. Many people
hold a belief that all they do is counting the profit, it is more than that.
Here goes the journey of a billion-dollar producer, Ryan Kavanaugh to turn down
the false conception.
Ryan Kavanaugh launched
Relativity Media in the year 2004. It was only here when he came up with his
Money Ball approach of film finance for which he made use of mathematical
tools. Every film from Relativity needs to pass its probability test from this
model.
In the first year, Ryan executed an innovative deal for the Marvel
Studios which led to the creation of Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has
structured the business deals for Warner Brothers, Universal, Sony, and many
other companies.
Mr. Kavanaugh has also created a promotional, marketing, and
production partnership with the Virgin Mobile and Virgin Produced. Another the crucial deal he innovated for Relativity Media was the partnership with Huaxia
Film Distribution Co. Ltd of China to get equal alliance in Sky Land
Entertainment.
Ryan Kavanaugh, through Relativity Media, has presented over 200
motion pictures earning over $17 billion globally and 60 Oscar nominations.
Aiming to create a global media company, the media house expanded to Relativity
Television, Relativity Sports, and Relativity Digital in the year 2013.
Briefing the list of the films produced by him, some of the big names
include Limitless, The Fighter, Beyond the Lights, Immortals, and Safe Haven.
The Social Network, one of his executive produced films received eight Oscar
nominations.
At the 13th Annual Hollywood Awards, Ryan received the
2009 Hollywood Producer of the Year Award. In the year 2010, he received the Leadership
Award presented by the Hollywood Reporter. Apart from these, he had his name at
21st on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 Most Influential People in Business in
the year 2010. He also had his name in Forbes’ Future 400: Ones To Watch. He
was named Showman of the year by Variety in the year 2011.
The list of awards goes on with his active involvement in several charitable
causes. The Anti-Defamation League bestowed the 2011 Entertainment Industry
Award to him. He was also presented the 2010 Hollywood Humanitarian Award by
the boards of governors of Cedars Sinai Medical Centre.
Ryan Kavanaugh recently
became a part of a dog rescue and also serves charitable organizations such as
The Art of Elysium and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He practices transcendental
meditation daily and currently resides in Malibu, California.
