Ryan Kavanaugh was born
in Los Angeles, California to a family of successful parents. After completing
his education from the University of California, Los Angeles, he founded a
small venture capital firm. However, it struggled with the after-effects of the
September 11 attacks causing it to wound up.
After
serving as a consultant to other venture capitalists, Ryan founded Relativity
Media in the year 2004. Here, he came with a new approach towards predicting
the profitability of films. Along with bringing the concept of ‘the model,’
Ryan Kavanaugh holds the credit of creating several innovative financial deals
for reputed names such as Marvel Studios.
Through
Relativity Media, Ryan Kavanaugh has produced over 200 motion pictures. They
made a global collection of $17 billion and earned more than 60 Oscar
nominations. Some of these films are The Fighter, Safe Haven, Mirror Mirror,
Immortals, Limitless, Grown-Ups, Dear John, and Beyond the Lights.
Talking of
the awards and recognitions given in his honor, he was presented the 2009
Hollywood Producer of the Year Award at the 13th Annual Hollywood Awards. In
the year 2010, The Hollywood Reported awarded him the Leadership Award.
In the year
2010, Ryan Kavanaugh had his name on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 Most Influential
People in Business. He was at #19 in the Forbes 2013 list of youngest
Billionaires and was named as 2011’s ‘Showman of The Year’ by The Variety. He
actively serves charitable organizations such as the Art of Elysium and Cedars
Sinai.
For his
active involvement in philanthropic activities, the Anti-Defamation League
awarded him the 2011 Entertainment Industry Award.The Sheriff’s Youth
Foundation bestowed him the Community Champion Award.
He was the
sole winner of the 2010 Hollywood Humanitarian Award given by Cedars Sinai
Medical Center. He was also honored by the First Star for his dedication to
improving the lives of the child victims who have faced abuse and neglect.
His active
involvement in humanitarian activities shows his commitment to noble causes and
