From facing
struggles to achieving the results, every person has a different journey of
success. However, things they have common are hard work, constant efforts, and
the optimism to deal with downfalls. Ryan Kavanaugh too carries a similar
optimistic attitude and that’s what made him a celebrated businessman and film
producer.
Ryan Kavanaugh was born
on 4th December 1974 to a family of successful parents. His mother is a real
estate broker and his father is a dentist and businessman. After completing his
education from the University of California, Los Angeles, he formed a small
venture capital firm. However, it struggled with the consequences of the
September 11 attacks and was wound up.
Ryan is not
among those who give up on small failures. He served as a consultant to other
businesses for a shorter period and in the year 2004, he came up with
Relativity Media. It was only here that he actualized his idea of linking
mathematical tools with financing and other projects related to films. It was
the same concept for which he received a denial for a loan of $50,000 from his
father.
Apart from
bringing the money ball model of film finance, Ryan Kavanaugh structured
business deals for different companies, including Sony, Warner Brothers, and
Universal. He created a promotional, marketing, and production partnership with
Virgin Produced and Virgin Mobile. He has played an instrumental role in
launching a partnership for Relativity Media with Huaxia Film Distribution Co.
Ltd.
Through his
firm, Ryan Kavanaugh holds the credit of producing over 200 motion pictures.
These firms grossed $17 billion globally and earned 60 Oscar nominations. Some
of these movies are Mirror Mirror, The Fighter, Limitless, Safe Haven, Beyond
the Lights, and Immortals. The Social Network, one such film that he executive
produced, received eight nominations for Oscar.
Ryan
Kavanaugh has received the 2009 Hollywood Producer of the Year Award. He was
also bestowed The Leadership Award by The Hollywood Reporter. In the year 2010,
he had his name in Forbes’ Future 400: Ones To Watch and also in the Fortune’s
40 Under 40 Most Influential People in Business.
Other than
being a film producer and a businessman, Ryan is also an active philanthropist.
He serves the boards of some charitable institutions such as The Art of Elysium
and Cedars Sinai. The journey of Ryan Kavanaugh inspires people to never give up on their dreams
and also narrates about the ways by which the struggles can be converted into
success.
